03/14/2012ANTHONY GANGI JR. TAKES WIN IN TAG CADET

Brookville, New York - Anthony Gangi Jr., a member of the GT7 Motorsports kart racing team, wrapped the 2012 Florida Winter Tour Vortex TaG Cadet Championship with a stellar weekend of racing as he took his maiden win in the TaG Cadet Mini Rok class. Running at the top of the time sheets throughout the weekend, Gangi Jr. needed a solid weekend to vault himself into championship contention. Laser focused, the entire GT7 Motorsports team worked the weekend program and achieved their goal. The result of all the hard work was two podiums and moving into the third place in the final standings. The GT7 Motorsports team enjoyed a special guest on the weekend as Daniel Lambert of Sargeant Motorsports joined the team to provide engine-tuning support.
On Saturday it was second in qualifying for Gangi Jr. and a front row starting spot. Gangi Jr. used that excellent starting position and a nice last lap pass to grab the win in the prefinal and secure pole for the first final of the weekend. In the final it was an excellent battle at the front with Gangi Jr. working the lead for the entire race gapping the field in the later stages. At the line to was Gangi P1 and his first win in Mini Rok at the Florida Winter Tour.

03/07/2012ANTHONY GANGI JR. LOOKING TO FINISH STRONG IN MINI ROK

Brookville, New York - Anthony Gangi Jr., a member of the GT7 Motorsports kart racing team, sits just on the outside looking in when it comes to the Florida Winter Tour Vortex TaG Cadet class championship. The talented ten-year-old racer sits in fourth place in the standings and has his sights set on a top three finish in the final championship tally. As the Florida Winter Tour faithful descend on the impeccable Ocala Gran Prix facility, Gangi Jr. is looking to make some noise in the final double-header weekend of the 2012 Mini Rok campaign. Anthony Jr. recently had the opportunity to test his Tony Kart package in race trim at the Ocala track as he made final preparations to close out the winter tour. Running over several days, the team was able to work on several aspects of their program.
"I like that we got in a couple of really good days of testing following Homestead. The Homestead weekend was not bad, but not great either. The testing really has us ready for this weekend," comments Anthony Gangi Sr., GT7 Motorsports Team Principal. "We are pulling out all the stops to get inside the top three when the dust settles in the championship points."
Ocala Gran Prix has been the site of some of Gangi Jr.'s best finishes over the past couple of seasons and he looks forward to making the most of the final Mini Rok weekend. Working with driver coach Gary Willis and tuner Chris Perez, Anthony Jr. will look to score maximum points on the weekend to give himself a shot at the top three. The GT7 Motorsports team made the switch to Tony Kart for the 2012 season and have been making the most of the cadet chassis.

02/24/2012SOLID RUN IN ROTAX MINI MAX FOR ANTHONY GANGI JR.

Brookville, New York - Anthony Gangi Jr., a member of the GT7 Motorsports kart racing team, continues to develop his Rotax program as the rookie Mini Max driver took on the largest Mini Max field ever assembled. An incredible 54 young drivers took to the permanent parking lot track of the Homestead Karting Complex in a hot and closely contested double-header weekend of Rotax Max racing. Running inside the top ten in most of the timed sessions, Gangi Jr. had to work through mid pack traffic and side-by-side racing to chase down the leaders who ran in close formation at the front. Making passes and dodging contact, Gangi Jr. was able to post solid finishes on both days.
"Overall not a bad weekend of racing. As a rookie in the Mini Max class I am really happy that we are running at the front against some of the more experienced drivers," comments Anthony Gangi Sr., GT7 Motorsports Team Principal. "We still have some work to do, but overall our package is very strong. The Tony Kart is working excellent and our engine program is coming along very nicely. I think at this stage we just need to be a bit more consistent."

02/15/2012ANTHONY GANGI JR. MOVES INTO THE TOP FIVE IN MINI ROK POINTS

Brookville, New York - Anthony Gangi Jr., a member of the GT7 Motorsports kart racing team, endured an up and down weekend as he we worked through mechanical problems and was caught up in another marshalling error. The multi-time champion headed into the weekend looking to make a move in the championship points tally and secure his position in the title fight. Anthony Jr. worked throughout the weekend with tuners Chris Perez and Gary Willis, as the trio looked to hit the podium for the first time in the FWT Mini Rok class. Needing to make passes in every session, Gangi Jr. continued to charge forward every lap as he circulated the challenging permanent parking lot circuit.
"We didn't have the kind of weekend we had hoped. Our engine builder had a baby and wasn't able to make it to the track. Mom and baby are great and that's the important thing for sure. Moments like that put karting into perspective. I have five kids and understand the importance of family for sure," comments Anthony Gangi Sr., GT7 Motorsports Team Principal. "We struggled a bit to give Anthony Jr. the kart he needed. On Saturday he drove brilliant in the final to sit in fourth waiting to make the last lap pass. The flagman forgot the two-to-go and the one-to-go signals. He just put out the checkerd flag and took Anthony out of a possible third place."

02/08/2012ANTHONY GANGI JR. HEADS TO HOMESTEAD TO TAKE ON MINI ROK

Brookville, New York - Anthony Gangi Jr., a member of the GT7 Motorsports kart racing team, has been in full testing mode since the checkered flag dropped a few weeks ago in West Palm Beach, Florida. The ten-year-old racer from New York City is preparing for another assault on the Vortex Mini Rok class at the upcoming Florida Winter Tour (FWT) round taking place this weekend at the Homestead Karting Complex. The permanent parking lot track offers racers a much different racing venue than the other two stops on the FWT calendar. As the southern most region of Florida, racers are hoping the Miami area offers up some warm weather to match the intense on track action. The GT7 team has been working flat out on the new Tony Kart Cadet package that they debuted in the opening round of the Tour. Anthony Jr. and long time tuner Chris Perez will again be joined by Gary Willis as the trio look to hit the podium for the first time in the FWT Mini Rok class.
"The whole team is very excited about this weekend at Homestead. Anthony Jr. was really fast in both trips to the Super Nats in the Mini Rok kart," comments Anthony Gangi Sr. "Obviously there are some small similarities between the Rio and the track at Homestead so we are looking for a good weekend. We have been working hard on the new Tony Kart Cadet package both in the engine shop and on the track."
The team took the opportunity between FWT events to test at the Homestead track in preparation for the second of three double-header weekends on the 2012 FWT calendar. The opening weekend had some challenges for Gangi Jr., who took 21st in the Saturday final after contact while in second place send him back to 27th. On Sunday a win in the prefinal came with a five-position penalty. Gangi Jr. was able to get himself to the front and battle for the lead ending up fifth at the line. This weekend Gangi Jr. will head into Homestead sitting eighth in the points standings.

01/20/2012TOUGH OPENING TO FWT MINI MAX PROGRAM FOR ANTHONY GANGI JR.

Brookville, New York - Anthony Gangi Jr., a member of the GT7 Motorsports kart racing team, will be glad to put Palm Beach International Raceway in his rear view mirror as he sets his sights on the next round of the Florida Winter Tour. A tough and challenging weekend of Mini Max racing had the former FWT Micro Max Champion looking for answers as he was hit with both technical problems and some sporting challenges. Looking to kick off his rookie campaign in Mini Max with solid results, Gangi Jr. will triple his efforts to get back some lost ground in the next double-header weekend taking place in four weeks time at the Homestead Karting Complex.
"It was definitely a tough weekend for Anthony and the crew. We fell behind early, loosing speed throughout Saturday. We found the problem and hoped to be better on Sunday," comments Anthony Gangi Sr. "I think getting behind had us all trying too hard and that created some additional challenges we brought on ourselves. The great thing about racing is that there is always another race to go to."
